Page Background

Amrose didn’t become an engineer

right away. In fact, she started working

on her PhD in astrophysics. After taking

many physics classes, she took her first

engineering class. It changed her career,

and she ended up looking at water

treatment.

Amrose has a strong connection to this

project. “I’ve visited families in Bangladesh

who only have arsenic-contaminated

water sources for drinking. A father once

asked me to please hurry up my research

if I could, because he wanted his young

daughter to grow up and thrive. He said it

was too late for him (because he had been

drinking arsenic-contaminated water his

whole life and had many health problems),

but he wanted his children to survive and

have a happy life.”

Engineers

The engineers featured in this article are doing amazing things to

make the world a better place to live. And they’re all engineering with

water. Maybe you will decide to be an engineer. What problems will

you help solve?
